  1. Incorrect Swallowing – typically tongue thrusting
  2. Speech Issues
  3. Abnormal Breathing Patterns – typically mouth breathing

A more holistic approach to orthodontics

Holistic approaches to orthodontics could incorporate multiple aspects of overall wellness, such as oral, respiratory health and including nutrition, breathing techniques, and other lifestyle factors, in addition to traditional orthodontic treatments. Myofunctional therapy is used in conjunction with orthodontic treatment.

A More Stable Result

While orthodontics by definition deals with the straightening of the teeth, myofunctional therapy addresses the aforementioned underlying causes. Orthodontics done after the underlying cause(s) has been addressed give the most stable result.
